The Florida Justice Association (FJA) recently announced the selection of Paul Jess as the organization’s executive director. Jess is a veteran attorney and association executive.  With FJA for nearly three decades, Paul has served as  general counsel, deputy executive director, and most recently, interim executive director. During his career with the FJA, Jess continued to serve in the U.S. Naval Reserve as an intelligence officer, eventually serving three tours as Commanding Officer of various commands before retiring at the rank of Captain. The outgoing president of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Capital Chapter has been named Chapter President of the Year by the association. Jay Morgan-Schleuning served as president of the Capital Chapter for the 2016 – 2017 fiscal year. The award was announced at FPRA’s Annual Conference in Orlando. Over the last year, Morgan-Schleuning led the chapter through an extensive refocusing that resulted in a three-year strategic plan, development plan and member engagement measurement system. Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Florida) Executive Director Vicki Long, Hon. AIA, CAE was awarded the 2017 Leadership Award by the Council of Architectural Component Executives (CACE) at its August annual meeting in Portland, Oregon. Vicki was presented with the 2017 Component Leadership Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership in state legislative and regulatory affairs, and for mentoring new talent in the arena over many years.   Congratulations Vicki!

The Florida Dental Association recently announced that Kerry Gomez-Rios  was honored with the Daniel J. Buker Special Recognition Award at the 2017 FL Dental Convention in Orlando. Stanley L. Stone, FSAE Past President in 1964, recently passed away this July. Stone was involved in FSAE for over 30 years and received the Executive of the Year Award in 1992. He was 84 and lived in Tampa.

Michael Joseph Garcia passed away on Thursday, 23 June 2017 following a 10-month battle with brain cancer. Michael was surrounded by his family and loved ones throughout his final days. Mike has been a member of FSAE since 2002.
