Out with the Old

Like many of us, you may be working this week between December 25 and January 1. If so, you are probably part of a skeleton crew with actual member-related work at a minimum. So take this opportunity to reevaluate your use of technology and such. Specifically, I look at several areas. 1. I go through my emails. Organization gets a little crazy when we are busy. Now is a good time for a priority reorganization. I tend to organize for expediency in the moment. That is not always best so I invest a little time in reorganizing folders, emails, clear out (or archive) my sent emails . 2. Cyber Ho Ho No

In the last week I have seen a 100-fold increase in emails dealing with Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday, or Kindness Day. I wish I could say all of these were legit but some are not. They are all designed to get you to click. In the social media world, that is referred to as click-bait. Anything to get you to click. The problem here is this is your email and you could compromise your business systems with one click. I am not currently wearing a tinfoil hat and think that conspiracies arrive in every email, however, at the holidays, we get a lot more liberal with the clicking. We lose our sense of judgment mostly due to FOMO (fear of missing out). ...

Much-needed support for individuals and families who have lost everything through natural disaster or personal tragedy arrived in the form of furniture donated by Caribe Royale Orlando to The Mustard Seed of Central Florida. We are sad to share that Bill Kautter, co-Founder of the Orlando-based Kautter Wenhold Management Group, passed away in December at age 75. Bill and his wife Tina incorporated the association management company Kautter Management Group in 1984 and Tina still serves on its executive team. Bill was a well-known face in the association management community, having received several awards and recognitions over the years for his expertise in this highly specialized field.
