The FSAE Young Professionals Task Force has organized several community service projects for Tallahassee and the Central FL area. Recently, the YPs adopted Grace Mission’s after school program for low-income children as a monthly service project in Tallahassee. Volunteers serve a hot meal to kids who might otherwise not have dinner. The first service night was in February and future opportunities will be coming soon. Please contact Amanda Bowen if you are interested in participating.  Pictured left to right: Alexis Simoneau, Amanda Bowen, Katherine Anderson

March’s service night fell during Leon County Spring Break, and instead of taking the month off, the YPs volunteered to help with the Mission’s afternoon picnic and Easter egg hunt. All FSAE members are welcome to participate in the service projects and Amanda Bowen, Karen E. Venditti and Bruce Larson (Embassy Suites Orlando North) participated in this fun event.  Pictured left to right: Mary Beth Byrd, Bruce Larson, Amanda Bowen, Karen Venditti

The YPs have also selected a Central FL service opportunity for the evening of Sunday, April 3 in Sanford during the Annual Light of Hope Ceremony honoring abused and neglected children in Florida. The event will help kick-off National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month for April and is held each year during this time to remember the thousands of abused children in the Central Florida community, while recognizing the Guardian ad Litem Program volunteers and community advocates who serve children in the court system.

Volunteers are needed for the event to assist attendees, light candles, direct parking, and clean the park before leaving. Please RSVP to Ashley Mayo if you are able to attend.
